Asmr Meditation

ASMR Meditation – the tingling sensation people experience when they hear, see or feel a specific trigger. Whether it’s something as simple as listening to someone whisper or a video of a pampering treatment, ASMR is a powerful relaxation tool.

It can be used to reduce depression, stress and chronic pain

In addition to the calming effect that ASMR experiences have on your mind, it can help with physical health, too! Research shows that people who watch ASMR videos experience a decrease in heart rate and sweating on their palms.

It’s also been linked to a decrease in anxiety and sleep issues!

The fMRI scans of participants who experienced ASMR compared to control groups showed decreased functional connectivity between the brain’s frontal lobes and sensory and attentional areas. This translates to lower activity in the DMN, which is thought to be a critical pathway for the calming effects of ASMR (Smith et al., 2017).

ASMR can be a useful way to enhance your meditative practice

If you’re not sure if ASMR will be an effective way to relax and boost your meditative practice, try watching a few ASMR videos first. This can help you get in the right mindset for meditation and improve your results!

ASMR and mindfulness: A potential link

There is some evidence that people who meditate experience the same tingling sensations as those who enjoy ASMR. This could be because both are forms of mindful attention, which can lead to a feeling of relaxation and well-being.
