How do you get pink eye from poop?
First, you need to know that the bacteria or viruses in fecal matter can cause pink eye. So if you come in contact with someone who has pink eye, or if you use the same utensils as them (like a toothbrush) to eat food that has been touched by their feces, you may get pink eye.
But don’t worry! You can’t get pink eye from a fart on your pillow, because flatulence is mostly methane gas and doesn’t contain bacteria. Once the fart is out of your body, any bacteria that was present in the gas would die very quickly.
Pink eye caused by bacteria comes from two kinds of bacteria called staphylococcal and streptococcal. It usually causes one eye to turn red and swell, along with a watery discharge.
Treatment for bacterial pink eye is often with antibiotics, which can be used in the form of drops or ointment. Your healthcare provider will tell you if this is the cause of your eye infection and recommend how to treat it.
You can also treat it at home with a few drops of aloe vera gel or tea made from organic holy basil leaves. To make this tea, steep a teaspoon of the spice in 8 ounces of water for 10 minutes.
Other ways to prevent or treat pink eye include washing your hands after touching your eyes and using hand sanitizer with alcohol in it to wash them. And don’t share personal items like glasses, pillows or towels with anyone else. And if your dog gets pink eye, take her to the vet right away for diagnosis and treatment.
