Jenni Rivera was a famous philanthropist and actress who also worked in the regional music genres, including Banda, Mariachi, and Norteno. She was also well-known for her work as a television host and a spokesperson for several brands and companies. The beloved star died in a plane crash along with six others on Dec. 9, 2012, in Monterey. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
She first met Juan Lopez at a bar in Los Angeles where she was singing for extra money. The two hit it off right away and started dating. Their romance blossomed and soon they got married in 1997. However, their early marriage wasn’t a happy one. Within just a few weeks of their wedding, Juan was arrested for smuggling and he was incarcerated for six months. Jenni stood by her man and helped him through the difficult time.
After Juan’s release from jail, he and Jenni tried to get back together but it didn’t last long. They separated in 2003 and divorced. They had two children together, a daughter Jenicka and a son Johnny Angelo.
A few years later, Rivera tried her luck in love once again and she married MLB player Esteban Loaiza in 2010. This was her third and final marriage. However, this one also troubled her. She believed that her husband and her oldest child Chiquis had an affair and although the two denied it, Rivera filed for divorce. The couple was reunited in 2011 but the union ended tragically when Rivera died in a plane crash just a few months after she got married.
