Vince Gill is an extremely popular country music singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He has recorded many albums and singles that have hit the charts. He has also won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career.

Among the most prestigious awards that he has received are the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and CMA Awards. He has a total of 22 awards to his name including two Entertainer of the Year awards and five Male Vocalist Awards. In addition, he is a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1991.

In 1968, Bob Coen was involved in a car accident that left him with irreversible brain damage. He was just 22 years old at the time. He would eventually lose contact with friends and family due to his condition. He died in 1993. Gill adored his elder stepbrother a lot and that is why he wrote the song “Go Rest High on That Mountain” for him. He also dedicated his Christmas album of 1993 and the first televised holiday special that same year to Coen.

Gill attended Northwest Classen High School where he played on the golf team and was part of the school’s band, Mountain Smoke. He married Janis Oliver in 1977 but divorced her in 1997. He then started dating Christian music artist Amy Grant and the couple got married in 2000. They share a daughter together named Corrina Grant Gill. Gill has another daughter called Jennifer Jerene Gill from his first marriage to Janis Oliver.
