What Happened to AJ Styles?

March 12, 2024

AJ Styles has been missing from WWE programming since September, though it looks like the company is planning to bring him back soon. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the former two-time WWE Champion is scheduled to return to SmackDown on November 10 and be featured regularly from that point forward.

The Phenomenal One last competed on the September 15 episode of SmackDown when he lost a singles match to Finn Balor. Following the match, he was attacked by Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa of The Bloodline, which led to him being sent to the hospital. Afterward, John Cena announced that he would be taking over as the new tag team partner for Styles at Fastlane. However, The Bloodline spoiled the plans by attacking Styles once again, and it was reported that the attack left him with a broken ankle.

It has been almost three months since Styles was injured, and the injury may require more time to heal than initially expected. The University of Connecticut notes that a broken ankle can take up to six to twelve weeks to fully heal.

Fans are excited to see AJ Styles make his return, but some have concerns as well. For example, the former TNA star is looking much bigger than he did before his hiatus. Some believe that he is using steroids, which isn’t good for his health. Others are concerned that he won’t be able to wrestle at his previous level.
