The Resident season 5 is in full swing, and one major cliffhanger is AJ's father. In this week's episode, he made the very difficult decision to become Padma's sperm donor. Having lost his mother in the past, he was understandably struggling with the decision to help her out, but he also knew that he wanted to be a part of their child's life.
The Resident co-creator Amy Holden Jones told TVLine that AJ's father was adopted by an Indian woman. She also said that it was important for the show's writers to make sure that AJ's father would be a major character on the series.
Ian was a mess when it came to addiction, and he was determined to get his fix in every way possible. From stealing other patients' urine to ordering synthetic ones, he did everything in his power to hide his addiction and keep himself from being caught.
He didn't realize that he was a danger to anyone, and he was putting himself at risk of overdosing on drugs. He didn't have the right mindset, and he was doing things that were completely out of line with what a doctor would do.
In addition, he was unable to deal with the emotional fallout of his drug use. This was a difficult topic for the show's writers to portray, but they did their best to convey how much pain and discomfort he was in and how unsteady he felt.
