In Season 3, we see Ana grow into a successful designer, with her own brand and line of dresses. Despite the heartbreak of not having her husband by her side, she finds peace with her work and son. But that is not to last, as someone from the past comes back to change everything.
The show takes place in Madrid, Spain, in late 1950s. It revolves around heir to Galerias Velvet, the most prestigious fashion house in Spain, Alberto Marquez (Miguel Angel Silvestre) and seamstress Ana Ribera (Paula Echevarria). Though they were forbidden to see each other, they are now at the center of a passionate love story. With their families and the business at stake, the two put aside their differences to keep their romance alive.
There is so much melodrama, and it is all in a good way. While it may seem cheesy to an American audience, Velvet Collection is the height of Spanish melodrama. It is very similar to Upstairs, Downstairs in the way that it has both front of house and back of house stories. It is also very glamorous, with beautiful clothing and sets.
