WWE superstar Alexa Bliss is out of action while she awaits the arrival of her first child. The Raw Women’s Champion has not competed since her loss to Bianca Belair in a Royal Rumble premium live event match. Earlier this month, the 31-year-old wrestler denied being on a hiatus from WWE but she appears to have re-opened the door for her return.
Bliss is a former NXT Women’s Champion and SmackDown Women’s Champion. She signed with WWE in May 2013 and made her televised debut on the July 24 episode of NXT. Bliss is a heel in her character persona and she often teams up with Bray Wyatt.
The Masked Singer alum was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer that the Mayo Clinic notes can be curable if caught early and treated promptly. Bliss shared a photo on Instagram showing her with a bandage covering a spot on her face and thanked her fans for their well-wishes.
There are no immediate plans for Bliss to return to the ring but WWE bookers will likely have a few ideas in the works to re-introduce the former champion when the time is right. For now, the company will likely focus on building up other stars such as Braun Strowman and Finn Bálor as they head into WrestleMania this weekend. The former champion hasn’t been part of the show in quite some time and it might be difficult for her to shake off ring rust and make an impact as soon as she returns to the squared circle.
