When it comes to stories of murder, there are not many that can captivate the public like the one of Amber Hilberling pushing her husband out of their 25th floor apartment window. The Oklahoma woman who was just 19 and seven months pregnant when she killed Josh was convicted of second degree murder and served 25 years in jail. She would later give birth to the couple's son Levi before she committed suicide in jail in October of last year.
In a new documentary, Hilberling is heard protesting her innocence from beyond the grave. The episode of Women Who Kill focuses on female prisoners and includes interviews with Hilberling. In the clip, she discusses the moment leading up to her husband's death. She claims that there was a big argument and that she was acting in self defense when she pushed him out of the window.
Friend's of Hilberling say that she was a wild and free young woman but when she became pregnant, she changed her ways. It was a whirlwind romance with Josh and they moved quickly to get married and have a child together. He was a 23-year-old military service member and they didn't have any real ties to each other in the beginning.
Hilberling was convicted in 2013 and she would later give birth to her baby boy. She would eventually commit suicide in October of last year while at the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud, Oklahoma. In an emotional interview with Dr. Phil McGraw, her mother Rhonda and stepfather Bryan claimed that the jail where she was being held called to tell them she was dead but didn't offer any other information. A spokesperson for the state of Oklahoma disputed these allegations saying that every individual in their custody is treated with respect and care.
