What Happened to Cake Boss Ralph Attanasia III?

March 14, 2024

After capturing audiences worldwide with his incredible cake creations and larger-than-life personality on TLC's hit reality series Cake Boss, Buddy Valastro branched out into a number of spin-off shows and a host of other ventures. While his show's last episode aired in 2020, that didn't mean the end of Carlo's Bakery or Buddy's ever-expanding empire.

After Buddy suffered a horrific hand injury in 2021, he was forced to take a break from the spotlight and focus on stabilizing his bakery. His family and employees were his priority, and he understandably needed to focus on the business side of things. During his downtime, he was able to reflect on how the accident shaped him.

As a result of his injury, Buddy has undergone five surgeries and continues to rehab his right hand, which is still not fully functional. Despite the setbacks, he is determined to get back to baking and has already filmed his new show Buddy Valastro's Cake Dynasty, which debuts this week on A&E.

But one thing that isn't returning with the new series is Ralph Attanasia III. Ralph, who is also known as "Ralphie," was the head of the sculpture department at Carlo's and used his artistic background and skill to create some of the show's most stunning cakes. He was a mainstay on the show and even made appearances on Buddy's other shows like Buddy vs. Duff and Bake It Like Buddy.

While we can all agree that the loss of Ralph is a major blow to Cake Boss fans, Buddy says he's found a way around his loss by working with a prop shop in New Jersey to get some of his favorite props for the show. And he promises that the next season will showcase "an even bigger and better Cake Boss than ever before."
