What Happened To Casey On Channel 2

A former TV meteorologist is running for a seat on the Houston City Council. According to the Houston Chronicle, Casey Curry is running for the At-Large Position 1 in the city. If she wins, she will replace Mike Knox. Knox currently serves as a member of the council and is seeking reelection to his current term.

Casey started her career as a teleprompter operator at a local news station in her hometown of Roswell, Texas before moving on to KOB-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico and then KRGV in the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated cum laude from the University of Texas-RGV with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism.

On July 26, 2002, 6-year-old Casey Williamson disappeared from her friend’s Valley Park home. Her mother, Angie Wideman, shared her story with FOX 2. She and the entire community hoped and prayed for Casey to be found safe and alive. The next day, she was found dead and Johnny Johnson was convicted of her murder. He was set to be executed for his crime on Tuesday, but a federal appeals court granted a stay of execution.

Despite the devastating ending to her story, Wideman hasn’t given up hope and has stayed active in Casey’s fight for justice. She has even returned to the national spotlight in a three-part docuseries streaming on Peacock called, “Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies.” She says she wants people to watch it because her version of what happened to her daughter was never heard during her trial.
