CSI star david caruso has been seen in public after a long time, and he looks a bit different to how fans remember him. He was spotted outside his home in San Fernando Valley, California, running errands with a female friend, and his hair is longer than we’re used to seeing on the series.
Caruso first became a household name in 1993 when he was cast as Detective John Kelly on NYPD Blue, for which he won a Golden Globe Award. He went on to appear in a number of other crime TV shows, including Michael Hayes and CSI: Miami, but it was on the latter that he really made his mark. He played Horatio Caine for 232 episodes of the show before it was canceled in 2012.
One thing that seems to happen with some actors is that they become so deeply associated with their character that it’s difficult for them to break free from this mold. This is certainly true of Caruso, who has always seemed to be drawn to roles with a law enforcement element.
After CSI: Miami was canceled in 2012, Caruso retired from acting and shifted his attention to the art world. He opened a gallery in Westlake Village, California, and is now focusing on his painting skills. He has also delved into politics, campaigning for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential candidacy and writing political commentary for the website Medium. He has two children, Marquez and Paloma, with his second wife, actress Rachel Ticotin.
