What Happened To Donnie Baker: The Bob And Tom Show Confirms Death Of Fan Favorite

The Bob and Tom Show has confirmed the death of Indianapolis comedian Ron Sexton, better known to fans as “Donnie Baker.” The show’s Facebook post on July 22 explains that Sexton died in an Ohio hotel while touring with his stand-up comedy show. The Hoosier writer was 52.

Hamilton County Coroner’s Office released a statement saying that Sexton died of combined toxic effects from fentanyl and ethanol (alcohol). “It is with great sadness we share this news with you,” the Bob and Tom Show wrote in a social media post that was quickly shared more than 10,000 times.

“Ron Sexton was a beloved member of The Bob and Tom Show family who made many, many people happy with his down-home characters like Donnie Baker and Floyd the Trucker, as well as his spot-on celebrity impressions over the years,” the morning show’s post read. Sexton grew up in the Indianapolis area and attended Franklin Central High School before going on to work at his local radio station as a baseball commentator.

In December, police arrested Paul Berkemeier for shooting into Sexton’s car after a dispute over a woman who was Berkemeier’s wife and Sexton’s girlfriend. Police said they believed the shooting was a case of mistaken identity, and that Berkemeier accidentally hit Sexton’s vehicle while trying to pull away from his own.
