What Happened to Duffy on Wicked Tuna?

October 19, 2023

National Geographic's reality show Wicked Tuna is known for bringing in some of the most skilled fisherman around to hunt for America's beloved Bluefin tuna. The show follows Gloucester commercial fishermen as they brave the North Atlantic ocean in search of their bounty. The show has been running for over 10 years, and has even spawned a spinoff series called Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks. However, the show recently lost one of its most beloved cast members.

In a tweet on Sunday, the production team for the show announced that 28-year-old Nicholas Fudge — better known as Duffy — had passed away. The news was accompanied by a photo of the slain fisherman. Fudge was the first mate on Captain Tyler McLaughlin's boat Pinwheel, and he appeared in the spin-off series Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks as well. He was also a well-known sportsman and competitor who loved the outdoors.

He was an excellent high school athlete who graduated from Portsmouth High School, and he also played baseball and basketball in his spare time. His love for fishing and the outdoors brought him to the attention of the producers of Wicked Tuna, and he became a fan favorite thanks to his entertaining personality and strong fishing skills.

On the show, Duffy and Tyler butted heads quite a bit, as the two were very competitive and often exchanged verbal barbs. This often landed them in a heated argument, but they always made it up when they were able to find a tuna to catch together.
