She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology. While at the university, she joined her classmates on a two-week Field Studies of Convection trip across the Plains and experienced her first time seeing supercells, tornadoes, dust devils, and a dust storm. She also worked as a meteorologist intern at WCIA-TV in Champaign and as a student researcher at the Field Studies of Atmospheric Convection.
