What Happened to Frank Fritz on American Pickers?

March 27, 2024

American Pickers is one of the History channel’s most popular shows, but fans of the show were shocked to learn that longtime co-host Frank Fritz was dropped from the series in 2021. It seemed that the show had taken a break from filming because of the coronavirus lockdowns, but when the season returned to TV in January of that year, it was clear that Fritz wasn’t going back. It wasn’t until July 2022 that the world learned that Fritz had suffered a debilitating stroke that he is still recovering from in Des Moines, Iowa.

While the stroke he suffered impacted his right side, he is still able to walk with assistance and seems to be enjoying a good quality of life. Friends of the star tell the Quad-City Times that he has not lost his sense of humor and is looking forward to returning to work, though he will not be able to work as quickly as he was able to before his stroke.

While a return to the show may be in his future, it seems that he would have a hard time finding a producer who would be willing to take on his health issues and the high financial cost of his care. As he continues to recover from his debilitating stroke, it’s unclear whether he will be in a position to film a new season of American Pickers, but fans are hoping that his health improves and the rift between him and Mike Wolfe can be repaired.
