What Happened to Isaiah Bolden?

GREEN BAY -- As medical personnel prepared to load New England Patriots rookie cornerback isaiah bolden onto a stretcher during Saturday night's preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, players from both teams got on their knees on the field. It was a somber scene reminiscent of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin's life-threatening collapse last January.

During the fourth quarter, Bolden was attempting to tackle Packers wide receiver Malik Heath when he collided head-on with teammate Calvin Munson. The blow knocked Bolden to the ground and left him motionless on the field. He was immobilized and taken off the field in a stretcher, prompting both teams to agree to call the game off with 10:29 remaining on the clock.

On Sunday morning, Bolden tweeted he's feeling much better and thanked fans for their support. He also noted he's "more excited to be back with the guys."

The seventh-round pick out of Jackson State was expected to help fill a gap in the Patriots secondary after a promising college career in which he started at both cornerback and kick returner. The rookie also had a chance to make the roster's 53-man roster on the strength of his speed, which showed in a 40-yard dash time of 4.33 seconds when he was drafted.

The Patriots announced Bolden has been released from a hospital in Green Bay and will travel with the team back to Massachusetts for practice Sunday before traveling to Nashville for Thursday's preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.
