Murphy Mason (Perry Mattfeld) has a lot of enemies on In the Dark, and one of them is her best friend, Jessica Damon. In fact, at some point in season 3, the character got kidnapped and was presumed dead by all her friends – except for Murphy. She’s never given up on her belief that her friend is still alive, and she’s even gone so far as to fight a drug dealer to get information on the matter.
However, at the end of episode 11, it finally appears that Jess’s time on the show is over, at least as a regular character. In the episode, we see her getting knocked out and dragged away, which leads many to believe that she’s died in some way.
But the truth is much more sinister. It turns out that Jess wanted everyone to think she was dead so that she could escape the life of crime that her friends were living and start a new one with the money she stole from Nia Bailey. But she was a liar, and her plan backfired.
As for what happened to her after that, the writers didn’t really have much room to go into it in the finale. But as far as we know, she’s not around anymore and there won’t be a season 5 of In the Dark, so it looks like she’s gone for good.
