Jonah Hill is a beloved actor known for his roles in The Wolf of Wall Street, 21 Jump Street, and Superbad, but he recently looked unrecognisable on the set of his latest movie. The actor piled on a ton of weight and his new look was a bit of a shocker. He was also sporting a gnarly scar on his arm that many people are wondering about. As the star told Rolling Stone, the scar is a reminder of something that happened to him when he was just a kid.
As a teen, Hill's mother was diagnosed with cancer and the trauma made him act out. He took up skateboarding and smoking weed and his grades began to slip. He was 15 when it all came to a head. He and a friend snuck out to go on a joyride in an SUV, which flipped over and dragged him along the road. When he woke up in the hospital, doctors were contemplating amputating his arm.
The wound was so bad that the actor lost a significant amount of blood. He was rushed to the emergency room, and as he waited for treatment, he could hear two doctors talking about whether he would make it or not.
In addition to his acting, Hill has directed a number of films including Cyrus (2010), War Dogs (2016), and Stutz (2018). He wrote and directed the 2018 coming-of-age film Mid90s and will soon be releasing the documentary Backgrid (2023). The star is also well-known for his tattoos and has shared several photos of his body art on Instagram.
