Josh Owens, a popular cast member of Discovery’s reality show Moonshiners, recently suffered from a terrible accident at the Daytona International Speedway. The accident left him with grievous injuries, and fans have been sending their prayers and well wishes for his recovery.
On Monday, Owens posted a video from the hospital to update fans on his condition. In the clip, he showed off a gruesome wound with 50 staples and a large scar. He admitted that he was hanging on by a thread, but he was confident that he would recover soon.
As a result, the actor has been inundated with prayers and well wishes from devoted fans from around the world. In addition, a GoFundMe account has been set up to help him cover his medical bills.
According to reports, Owens crashed his vintage 1919 Harley-Davidson motorcycle during a practice race while preparing for an exhibition at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida. He tore his rotator cuff and broke his left collar bone, shoulder blade, and ribs. He also punctured a lung and stripped the skin from one of his fingers. His collar bone remains broken and sticks out, leaving the left side of his body virtually paralyzed.
Despite his horrific injuries, Owens remains remarkably positive and has no plans to cancel the next season of Moonshiners. He is expected to return to filming in July and is already planning for the eighth season of the show. In the meantime, he is staying with a friend in the Daytona area until he can make the trip back to North Carolina.
