Julian Newman is an American basketball player who gained a massive following online after posting videos of himself shooting hoops at a very young age. He was a prodigy and had a lot of potential to become one of the best in the world. However, after he graduated from high school, he seemed to have stalled in his career. He’s been a no-show in the NBA and seems to have given up on his dream of playing professionally.
He started playing basketball at the tender age of three and his parents noticed the passion in him. They started training him with a regulation-sized ball that came up to his waist and started enrolling him in local recreational leagues to play with kids much older than him. He also had a rigorous daily training routine that had him practicing 100 free throws, 200 jump shots and 100 floaters every day.
A YouTube video of him playing hoops went viral in 2012 and made him a national celebrity. He got invited to a number of famous shows and was even featured in publications like The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Tampa Bay Times, and Sports Illustrated. He was also featured in the film, Born Ready and had his own reality show, Hello Newmans.
He was only 4 feet 5 inches tall at that time but he managed to impress everyone with his skills and talent. He played for the middle school team at Downey Christian School in the fifth grade and was eventually moved to the varsity team as the youngest point guard. He would score an average of 12.2 points and 10.5 assists per game.
