What Happened to Ken Rosato?

March 31, 2024

The sudden firing of veteran New York news anchor ken rosato has left fans seeking answers. Speculation quickly grew that Rosato was terminated after making an inappropriate remark that was picked up on a hot mic. His representative denied that the remark was a racial slur, but remained silent on other details of the incident.

Sources tell Page Six that in his final days with ABC, Rosato called his co-host Shirleen Allicot a “c***” in a comment that did not air but was likely picked up by a microphone. He was reportedly fired immediately after the station became aware of the remark. Sources say that in addition to the vulgarity of the remark, Rosato was probably unhappy that the station was showing more favor to Allicot.

Rosato joined ABC as a freelance reporter in 2003 and rose to anchor the morning and noon show, Eyewitness News This Morning. He earned an estimated $500,000 a year. He also worked for WNYW-TV, CBS Miami, and the radio stations 1010 WINS and WBLI.

In an emailed statement to Page Six, Rosato’s representative confirmed that the news anchor had been terminated by WABC, and that colleagues were informed of the news in one-on-one meetings on Friday. His public Twitter and Facebook accounts have been deleted, though fans are expressing their support on social media. The Sun has reached out to ABC for additional comment on the matter, but the network remains tight-lipped.
