What Happened to Laine Hardy?

March 12, 2024

Despite being crowned champion of the popular show in 2019, laine hardy has gone relatively quiet on social media. He resurfaced in late 2022, however, with a message that encouraged his followers to “love on each other & embrace the good times.” The Louisiana native has also started a new chapter of his career, stating that he’s collaborating with Nashville songwriters and hopes to release more music this year.

Hardy is also in a much better place with his legal troubles, as The Advocate reports that the singer could have his record completely wiped following a months-long pretrial diversion program. The district attorney in East Baton Rouge Parish says that if Hardy completes the program and meets other requirements, he can have his 2022 charges completely erased from his record.

The singer had been accused of leaving a listening device in his ex-girlfriend’s dorm room at LSU. The unnamed victim told police she suspected he had bugged her apartment after she found an audio recorder under her bed in February, and he later admitted to placing the device in her room but said that he discarded it when he found out she was a police officer.

Hardy rose to fame after winning Season 17 of American Idol in 2019. He had originally competed on the show in 2018, but was prompted to audition again in 2019 after agreeing to accompany his cousin on guitar at her audition in Hollywood. The judges were impressed by his throwback song choices and Elvis Presley-like swagger, and he won the competition with a golden ticket.
