What Happened to Limp Bizkit?

March 24, 2024

For a few years in the late ’90s to early ’00s, Limp Bizkit were everywhere. The nu metal band was on the radio, MTV, and had a hugely popular hit with Break Stuff. However, after that, they disappeared into obscurity. They’re largely hated today, even though they once had a massive following. So what happened to limp bizkit?

During their heyday, the band had a reputation for being wild and reckless on stage. They toured with rock bands like Korn and were a part of the Woodstock 99 festival (which was held on a disused air force base 100 miles away from the 1969 original). Their albums, Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish and Hot Dog Flavored Water, made them major pop stars.

The rap-rock group’s popularity waned after the novelty of their blend of rock and rap began to wear off, and they had internal strife that pushed them out of the limelight. The band reunited in 2011 and released the album Gold Cobra, but their heyday had passed.

Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst is also notorious for his obnoxious behavior on and off the stage. He’s been called a “frat boy” by various publications and is often compared to one. Durst’s persona has made him a target of vitriol from fans. He recently demanded that cameras be turned off at Louder Than Life, which upset some of the thousands of people in attendance. They took to social media to voice their frustration.
