What Happened to Marilyn Monroe's Body?

March 27, 2024

On August 5, 1962, Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her bedroom at her home in Brentwood California. She was 36 years old and her cause of death was ruled as a barbiturate overdose. Since then, a great deal of speculation has swirled around her final moments and what led to her death.

As many of you know, she was discovered by her housekeeper Eunice Murray who found her unresponsive in bed. She was reportedly covered with pills that were found on her nightstand.

It was a sad day for all of us who admired the iconic blonde beauty. She was such a beautiful and talented actress who was so loved for her looks and overt sex appeal. She was also a devoted mother who had just been rehired for her role in Some Like It Hot, which was the last film she made before her death.

Upon her body being discovered, the media swarmed to the mortuary that was handling the embalming. It was there that a Life magazine photographer was able to sneak in by bribing the morgue attendant with a bottle of whiskey.

It was in the morgue where the real mysteries began to surface about what happened to Marilyn Monroe’s body. Mortician Dr. Thomas Noguchi claimed that samples from her stomach and intestines were 'destroyed', which affected the toxicology reports. He also alleged that some of the standard tests on her were never carried out, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Later, funeral director Allan Abbott would write a tell all book about the star that included a statement about her appearance on her deathbed. He claimed that she looked awful and had not been taking care of herself.
