What Happened to MeTV on Antenna TV: How to Fix It

February 6, 2025

If you've ever found yourself frustrated when beloved channels like MeTV suddenly disappear from your TV, you're not alone. As broadcast frequencies change due to FCC regulations, a simple rescan on your television can often solve the problem. Unlike cable or satellite viewers, antenna users need to be aware of these changes and rescan their TVs to maintain access. By accessing your TV's menu and selecting "channels" or "auto-tune," you can re-tune all available signals. For specific guidance, referring to your TV’s instructions or seeking resources like TVAnswers.org can be immensely helpful.

What Happened To MeTV?

Many antenna viewers may be wondering why they can't find MeTV anymore. This issue often stems from changes in broadcasting frequencies, requiring a rescan of your antenna TV. A personal experience contributes to this narrative: someone struggled to fix their grandpa's TV, trying to get the show MASH back, after performing a rescan resulted in the MeTV channel disappearing. In this case, the problem illustrates the challenges of staying in touch with technology and its effects on the elderly. Grandparents long for nostalgia, but sometimes technology gets in the way, like when the channel outside of the AntennaTV service failed to reappear.

If rescanning doesn't restore MeTV, viewers might want to explore alternative options. Services like FrndlyTV still offer MeTV and H&I within their 40-channel package lineup, although they aren’t free. For budget-conscious viewers, free streaming apps such as Roku Channel, Tubi, Pluto, and Plex provide extensive collections of classic and family programming. While these won't exactly replace MeTV, they expand your viewing options for similar content.

Troubleshooting channel reception can sometimes be necessary, even after a proper rescan. If certain channels remain unavailable, factors like antenna position, elevation, or signal interference might be at play. For persistent issues, additional help can be found on the FCC's website and other helpful platforms that offer specific rescanning assistance based on your location.

  1. Live near Bozeman, MT. METV has been replaced by COMIT and we miss the METV programming! “Hogan’s Hero’s” ? No say???

  2. I have an analog Tv with a digital box and antenna. We are so disappointed that we lost the classic METV. It says METV but all of the old shows we loved are now gone and we are no longer watching the new channel.

We did the rescan the proper way and also unplugged the tv for 30 seconds and did a new rescan. Nothing. What can we do to get this back without cost or streaming? Thank you

  3. I rescanned, and it says that 12.3 out of Augusta, GA is METV, but it isn't. It is not showing the METV lineup shows. I can get 12.3, but it isn't METV. I used to get it on 6.2 out of Augusta. I cannot get that after scanning and rescanning and moving my antenna all over the room and rescanning. I used 6.2 for YEARS!!!!!! The 12.3 is Augusta all day news, now. The preview will show M.A.S.H. and all the other MEtv shows, but that isn't what is on.

  4. I have a smart t.v. and a regular t.v. I can still get MeTV PERFECTLY on the old television, via antenna. However, I hooked an antenna to my smart t.v., and watched MeTV for 2 years via the antenna, but recently lost the ability to watch it. None of my other antenna channels were affected. Again, I still get MeTV on the old "not smart" t.v. I have rescanned, moved the antenna around, and even tried watching with the tv disconnected from wi-fi. It will NOT work. It isn't a rural issue or reception issue, since I STILL get it in my bedroom on my non smart t.v. It obviously a smart t.v. issue, and the stations are somehow controlling the ability of smart tv's to get certain signals in order to force people to buy a streaming service to watch Metv. ALLLLL the other scanned antenna channels work on BOTH televisions in both rooms. This is a concerted effort to force the public off of antenna t.v. I have noticed after 9:00 P.M. EST, the other antenna channels start acting up ... scrambled looking.
