What Happened to Michael on Worst Cooks in America?

March 15, 2024

Despite being one of the most popular reality shows on Food Network, it's no secret that Worst Cooks in America isn't as well-loved as it used to be. After more than 22 seasons, it was clear that the series needed some more spice to keep viewers invested in the show. This was especially true with the recent celebrity editions of the show, which featured the likes of Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino of the Jersey Shore and Chef Michael Symon.

As for the main installment of the series, it still features a group of hapless home cooks known as recruits who undergo culinary boot camp with a mentor chef. Over the course of several weeks, they're challenged with various cooking tasks and lessons. The recruits are then whittled down through weekly eliminations until just two finalists remain. The last cook standing wins $25,000 and a Food Network kitchen set.

This season, the recruits were paired up into Blue and Red teams. During the first challenge, Red team member Michael had to withdraw due to health concerns, which left the Blue team with just one recruit. However, the team won the Date Night Showdown competition, which likely means they're safe from further eliminations this week in the skill drill challenge.

Unfortunately, the upcoming episode has been canceled due to a labor strike. According to the Hollywood Reporter, members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) went on strike in hopes of getting a better pay rate.
