In the midst of the season 2 finale of Tough As Nails, one contestant shocked fans by leaving mid-season without receiving an official elimination. This shocking departure of bricklayer Mikey “Eyebrows” Guerriero caught many by surprise since the show focuses on hard-working individuals and the physical feats they’re capable of.
As we know, the CBS reality competition series follows contestants through a series of 6-on-6 team challenges and individual tasks. Unlike most competition shows, if someone loses an individual challenge, they’re not out of the running for the overall grand prize – $200,000 and a Ford truck. Instead, they are eligible to compete in additional tasks called Overtime Tasks.
In the final challenge of episode 2, Mikey pushed over a stack of lobster traps, which caused his co-contestant Patrick “Freight Train” Hargan to fall in the water. While the push might not seem like a big deal to viewers at home, the producers were apparently less forgiving. In an interview with Rob has a Podcast, Tough As Nails creator Phil Keoghan revealed that Mikey was removed from the competition for breaking production rules off camera.
Throughout the season, Mikey has demonstrated a strong work ethic and has been nothing short of a force to be reckoned with. In addition to his career as a bricklayer, Mikey is a husband and father who takes great pride in his family. His sudden departure from the show is sure to ruffle the feathers of fans and has them questioning whether he’ll ever return to Tough As Nails.
