What Happened to Mike Woods?

September 10, 2023

In the world of television, there are many familiar faces that become a part of viewers' daily routines. One such person is Mike Woods, who has been a staple on Fox 5's "Good Day New York" for over a decade and quickly became a fan favorite due to his charismatic personality and thorough weather forecasts. But in early 2020, fans were shocked to see Woods disappear from their TV screens. It was soon revealed that he had contracted the COVID-19 pandemic and had been forced to take a leave of absence from his job.

Despite battling through the virus, Woods remained positive and was quick to thank his viewers and medical professionals for their support. His honesty and resilience served as a reminder of the importance of following health guidelines and getting vaccinated.

Following his return to work, Woods took to the road again in 2021 and 2022, where he achieved significant results on the Grand Tour circuit. Despite having to contend with a string of injuries, including two broken ribs, Woods managed to earn a fourth-place finish at the Vuelta a Espaa and a third-place finish at the UCI Road World Championships. In 2023, Woods has set his sights high and will look to compete for the polka dot jersey, as well as a top-10 finish in the overall standings. FloBikes will have live coverage of the 2023 Tour de France from July 1 to July 23.
