During episode two of the Challenge’s thirty-eighth season themed ‘Ride or Dies’ it was revealed that Nam Vo left early, as he was disqualified ahead of the first daily challenge. This led to a lot of confusion, as it was clear that there had been some kind of backstory with Emmy Russ.

On her Instagram Live, Emmy Russ claimed that she had been paired with Nam as her ride or die, however, he never really made an effort to get to know her or make her feel welcome in the house. She went on to say that Nam would ignore her and only talk with people from previous seasons of the show.

Nam is a returning veteran to the Challenge, having previously competed on Double Agents, Spies & Allies, and Ultimate Beastmaster 1. He was medically disqualified from the game in the beginning of the current season due to an injury to his back. He had also appeared on a few episodes of Real World/Road Rules, and was a contestant on the most recent season of Bachelor In Paradise.
