Nia Jax was once one of the most popular wrestlers on WWE’s roster. The Samoan Superstar won multiple titles during her time with the company and she even went as far as teaming up with her ex-partner Shayna Baszler to hold the Women’s Tag Team Championships together. However, all that changed back in 2021 when she was released from her contract. Now, she isn’t sure she wants to return to the company full time.
In a recent podcast interview, Jax spoke about her initial release from WWE and why she decided to leave the company. She revealed that she was fired because she refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine. This was something that was a big deal at the time because it would have prevented her from working in foreign countries. The company holds big events in Saudi Arabia every year and they rely on the superstars who are signed to their international deals to help bring in crowds for those shows. Jax explained that she was a big part of those shows and she was worried that she wouldn’t be able to continue to work there if she didn’t get the vaccine.
Jax isn’t announcing plans to return to wrestling on the independent circuit at the moment, but she did make an appearance in this year’s Royal Rumble as the number 30 entry. The former Women’s Champion was booed heavily by fans and it looks like she may be done with the industry for good.
