A group of marauders forces Pedro and Alma Madrigal, and their infant triplets Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno, to flee their home village. Fortunately, Alma's candle has magical properties that repel the baddies and create a sentient house for the family, located in Encanto.
The Madrigal family is famed for their enchanted abilities and their beautiful enchanted house, Casita, which cleans itself, hosts massive parties, and assists the village residents in rural Colombia. As the years pass, the Madrigals begin to receive a variety of special powers from the enchanting spirit in their house.
Abuela Alma Madrigal (Stephanie Beatriz) is the matriarch of the Madrigals, and she distributes these powers to her children, grandchildren, and future generations. The matriarch also acts as a spiritual guide for her family and serves as an example to the rest of the village.
She is not the villain in the movie, but she does appear to want to preserve the miracle for personal reasons, which could potentially make the story worse than it already is.
This is because she thinks that if they lose their magic, their family will be faced with another tragedy like the one they experienced in Whole Cake Island when their husband died.
So if you're looking for something to watch this weekend, don't miss out on Disney's Encanto. It's a story about a fractured family coming together after a tragic loss and how to thrive in the face of hardship.
