There's been a lot of speculation that the beloved character of Riverdale's iconic diner owner Pop Tate is dead. Though actor Alvin Sanders hasn't left the show, it seems as if his last episode was "Chapter Eighty: Purgatory."
He is a well-loved figure in Riverdale, and is often seen with the Archie gang at his diner, the Chock'lit Shoppe. He is a portly, mustachioed man who can appear gruff at times, but he is generally good-hearted and loves his job.
A staple in the town, his diner is the place for everyone to go for a great meal and a chance to catch up with their friends. He's also known for his kindness to people in need and has helped out many of the Archie gang during their time in Riverdale.
In Season 5 of the series, his granddaughter Tabitha Tate took over Pop's, which had been burned down by a Ghoulie. She was eager to franchise it, but she had her work cut out for her. She made a new friend in Betty Cooper, who helped her investigate the disappearances on the Lonely Highway.
She also reunited with Reggie Andrews, who was dating her daughter Veronica Lodge. Together, they tried to restore Riverdale to the way it once was.
Her determination to protect the core values that make Pop's such an important part of Riverdale has helped her keep her town safe from Percival Lodge, who wants nothing more than to destroy everything that makes it so special.
