What Happened to Spike on Mojo in the Morning?

April 2, 2024

For over 23 years, Spike was an intricate part of the Channel 95.5 (WKQI-FM) Mojo in the Morning show. He was known for pranking listeners and celebrities, especially on April Fool's Day. He was also an incredibly talented radio host. During the Mojo in the Morning show on Monday, Mojo announced that Spike was no longer with the station. He didn't say what happened specifically, but implied that company decisions may have played a role.

Spike posted the same message on his social media accounts, stating that "I am no longer on the Mojo in the Morning." He then wrote, "For 23 years, it was a dream come true to entertain you each and every weekday."

The Detroit-based iHeartMedia morning show debuted in 2000, and is also broadcast on alternative 105.1 The Edge WXDG Cleveland OH, Hot 98.3 KKZN Dallas TX and 94.5 Kiss-FM WVKS Toledo OH, as well as Classic Rock 95.7 WKQI Chicago IL. Spike's departure comes as iHeartMedia is conducting widespread layoffs, as reported by Radio Ink.

During Monday's Mojo in the Morning, Shannon and Mojo addressed Spike's absence, saying that they would not continue to do pranks without him. However, they remained optimistic that the show would be back to normal soon. iHeartMedia's website doesn't list any future plans for the program, and it isn't clear who will fill in for Spike in the interim.
