If you’ve seen a quiet place 2 you know what happened to the dad in the movie. The first film’s star John Krasinski, along with his real-life wife Emily Blunt and their young kids (a baby and a deaf daughter), survived alien creatures that hunted sound in rural America. The eerily silent horror thriller was a box office hit, with a stellar 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 82 on Metacritic. The sequel is set to open in theaters on May 28, with Krasinski directing again alongside Blunt and the kids.
The opening sequence of a Quiet Place Part II takes place at the youth baseball game where the family’s adventure began. The dad, Lee Abbott, watches his kiddos play the game. But a single screech from one of the children, Regan (played by Millicent Simmonds), catches the attention of one of the alien monsters.
Luckily, the creatures can’t hear noise through walls, and the family heads back home. They eat dinner on leaves instead of plates, pray in silence before bed, and try to sleep with their backs to the wall. But when Regan’s hearing aid is playing a radio station too loud, it triggers the creature to stalk the family again.
Eventually, the Abbotts find a new way to protect themselves. Regan’s hearing aid is able to create noise through a radio frequency, and Emmett uses it to stun a monster lurking outside their bunker. It’s an impressive display of skill and resourcefulness, but it leaves many questions unanswered.
