As the season of american idol winds to a close, the top 14 contestants have been whittled down to just 11 singers remaining. But on the latest episode, a major twist was introduced: Luke Bryan and Katy Perry were given the power to save one of the bottom two singers from elimination. They chose to save Lady K over Tristen, sending the Alabama native home.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Gressett thanked fans for their support and insisted that his time on the show wasn’t the end of the road for him. He even got a shoutout from former American Idol winner Adam Lambert.
Then, he got to work trying to line up gigs for his next step in the music industry. He’s currently getting new listeners on streaming services, selling merch and growing his fanbase. And though he’s known for his throwback stance, rock star theatrics and Stevie Ray Vaughan hats on stage, Gressett is a grounded young man with a clear perspective on his future.
He’s still just a high school senior, and he’s got a lot of musical payback to settle. But he’s determined to build a solid career for himself, song by song and show by show.
