Aziz Sergeyevich Shavershian, better known as Zyzz, was an amateur bodybuilder who built a massive online following and convinced thousands of followers that they could achieve their own muscular lady magnet physiques. He became the face of a movement called “aesthetics” and was widely adored as a god. In August of 2011, he went into cardiac arrest in the sauna of a hotel while on vacation in Thailand. He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to resuscitate him and declared him dead. The autopsy revealed that he died of an undiagnosed heart condition and cardiomegaly, which is a medical term for an enlarged heart.
It wasn’t always easy for him to maintain his buff physique, and allegations of steroid use were brought up frequently. He denied using steroids, claiming that his shape was the result of hard work and proper nutrition. He even started filming a reality show and published a book, Zyzz’s Bodybuilding Bible, and marketed a variety of supplements. The accusations of steroid usage escalated after his older brother was arrested in early 2011 on charges of possession of anabolic steroids.
Aziz was born in Moscow and moved to Australia with his family. He grew up skinny as an ectomorph and started working out in his teenage years to impress girls. He later got into bodybuilding as a serious passion and made it his life goal to become a famous bodybuilder like Frank Zane and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
