Who Is Dr Mobius?

In the early '90s, vampires were all the rage, and Marvel took full advantage of that trend by reviving Morbius. The character had a distinctly anti-hero vibe to him, but was able to save people from death without losing his humanity.

Unlike most comic book vampires, Morbius was actually the result of a scientific experiment that transformed him into a pseudo-vampire. In the process, he developed claws, fangs, a bat-like appearance and bat radar, as well as hollow bones that allow him to glide through the air.

He also had a unique set of powers, including superhuman strength and speed, heightened senses and reflexes, and self-healing that was similar to Wolverine's. While his abilities weren't terribly powerful, they were enough to make him one of the most important heroes in the Marvel Universe.

But before he was a hero, he was a villain. That changed when he began to appear on Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

This re-imagined version of Morbius was voiced by Nick Jameson, who gave him a thick accent and the word "blood." Instead of biting necks, he drained plasma with strange suction holes.

The show wasn't a hit, but it did get some fans interested in the character. He would later cross paths with Blade as a villain and even almost made it into the Blade II movie.
